SUMMER
"I have been very lucky to spend a week with friends on the Côte d’Azur in Antibes followed by a week on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset.
Both places have inspired new work
It was still May when I travelled to Antibes, so strictly still spring but the heatwave followed us there and it definitely felt like summer. bougainvillea in shades of pink & coral cling to the honey coloured buildings and basks in the warm sunshine.
The evening skies were shades of the palest blue & lilac & the scent of jasmine hung heavy in the air.
On the beautiful Dorset coast summer had arrived. The sea was turquoise & the skies clear blue. The smell of freshly cut grass is so nostalgic and one that I love. The green fields & trees are a fresh & vibrant green full of poppies, cow parsley & colourful grasses all gently waving in the breeze.
The days of summer are wonderfully long and the sound of people chatting, laughing & jumping into water surround us. Temperatures climb & the colours lose the clarity of spring, becoming softer and more muted.
I have found inspiration once again in the colours of the sea & sky but also on the beaches & in the countryside."

NEW SERIES - WINTER WATER
My new series of paintings is called Winter Water & consists of 4 paintings all inspired by the rivers & lakes of Switzerland.
For the first painting Apricity, I worked from photos I took from the beautiful town of Lutry on the shores of Lake Geneva. The November sun was casting long shadows across the lake & momentarily warming a cold day.
The second painting is entitled The Colour of Water & is inspired by the seasons colours reflected in the turquoise water of the River Aare in Bern.
Painting Number 3 is called Once Upon a River. I referred to photos of the movement of water when blown by the winter breeze and the ripples on the surface & the golden light which dances across the waves.
The final work is Winter Doesn’t Hurry, which is inspired again by the effect of wind on water but on this occasion the river had taken on a different winter persona in shades of green & blue. Once again I have used gold which made me think of the ancient craft of cloisonné when strips of wire, usually gold, are used to form a pattern & powdered colourful enamel is added to fill the spaces creating beautiful decorative pieces of art.

DAYS OF LIGHT EXHIBITION MAY 2026
A huge thank you to everyone who came to my exhibition at the beautiful Schützenhaus in Ostermundigen on May 8th. I hosted the evening along with my dear friend & jewellery maker Alma @beadedknots
The location was perfect & so many people came, making the event so special. Art & jewellery was sold & at the end of the evening the sun came out from behind the rain clouds creating the most beautiful sunset which was reflected in the puddles.
Though the exhibition has now ended, all artwork still available for sale can be found on my "Available for purchase" page. Click here to go there.
